Vicuña

The Rarest Expression of Natural Luxury

Vicuña is widely regarded as one of the world's rarest and most precious natural fibres. Native to the high-altitude Andes, it is prized not only for its exceptional fineness and remarkable warmth, but also for its scarcity and the extraordinary care required to obtain it.

Its exceptionally fine fibres create a remarkably light, soft and refined textile. Yet what truly distinguishes Vicuña is the combination of natural rarity, limited availability and a centuries-old textile heritage, qualities that extend far beyond micron measurements alone.

Baby Alpaca

Baby Alpaca is valued for its fine texture, lightweight insulation and gentle feel against the skin. Its naturally smooth fibres contribute to a soft handle and fluid drape, while alpaca's insulating properties help maintain warmth without unnecessary weight.

Suri Alpaca

Silky lustre. Fluid drape. Distinctive character.

General reference fineness: varies by grade; approximately 18–28 µm across commonly cited qualities.

Recognised by its long, silky locks and natural lustre, Suri Alpaca offers a distinctive alternative to the more familiar alpaca fleece. Its smooth appearance and elegant drape bring depth, movement and a refined sheen to luxury textiles, complemented by the natural warmth of alpaca fibre.

Merino Wool

Breathability. Temperature regulation. Enduring comfort.

General reference fineness for fine Merino: approximately 17–21 µm; other grades may be coarser.

Merino wool combines a fine, soft handle with natural breathability and temperature-regulating properties. Its elasticity supports shape retention, while its ability to manage moisture and provide insulation makes it a versatile fibre for garments designed to be worn and treasured over time.

A finer understanding of quality

Micron (µm) measures the average diameter of a fibre: one micron equals one-thousandth of a millimetre. Finer fibres generally feel softer against the skin, but true material quality extends beyond diameter alone. Fibre length, uniformity, structure, yarn construction and finishing all contribute to the character and performance of the finished garment.

Vicuña - A story of survival, heritage and luxury

Once on the brink of extinction, the vicuña has become a symbol of resilience and one of the world’s most precious natural fibers.

For centuries, the Chaccu tradition has brought communities together in the Peruvian Andes to gently gather vicuñas, shear their exceptionally fine fleece, and release them back into the wild.

Through conservation efforts and the preservation of this ancestral practice, vicuña populations have recovered, allowing these remarkable animals to roam their natural habitat once more.
